What Are Window Blinds?

Blinds are window coverings made from slats, fabric panels, or cellular material, and honestly the mechanism is simple: tilt, slide, or raise. Curtains give you two states really, open or shut. A blind lets you land somewhere in the middle, which matters more than people expect once they actually live with one.

We’ve been putting these up in Gurgaon, South Delhi, and NCR homes since 2017. Six types sit in our catalogue right now, zebra, roller, honeycomb, wooden, vertical and roman, and no two solve quite the same problem. One customer wants heat off their west wall in June. Another just wants the living room to look finished. Both end up buying blinds, but rarely the same kind.

Window Blinds — FAQ

What are zebra blinds?

Two fabric bands share one roller here, a sheer strip and a solid one. Line them up and the room shuts off from outside eyes. Pull them out of sync and daylight leaks through in that soft, filtered way people like in a living room or a home office, mostly because the light you want at 9am is rarely the light you want by evening.

What are roller blinds?

One sheet, one tube, nothing fancier than that. And that’s sort of the point. A flat surface is easy to wipe, so kitchens end up with these more often than any other room, since grease just doesn’t cling to it the way it clings to pleated fabric.

What are honeycomb blinds?

Fold the fabric into rows of hexagonal cells and you get pockets of trapped air sitting between your room and the glass outside. That air slows the heat coming in during summer, and slows the warmth leaking out in winter. West-facing bedrooms that turn into a furnace by late afternoon, this is usually what we point people toward first.

What are wooden blinds?

Actual wood slats, tilted open and closed on a ladder-cord setup, no plastic pretending otherwise. The grain gives it a warmth fabric can’t fake, so these tend to suit a study or a room with more traditional furniture, less so a stripped-back modern space.

What are vertical blinds?

Slats here hang top to bottom instead of stacking flat, and they slide sideways on a track rather than raising up. Small difference, but it matters next to a sliding door. Something that moves sideways doesn’t fight a door that also moves sideways, which is exactly why these end up on big windows and balcony openings more than anywhere else.

What are roman blinds?

A single fabric panel, folding into soft horizontal pleats as you lift it, none of the mechanical stacking you get with a roller blind. It reads more like a design piece than hardware, which is probably why living rooms and dining rooms are where we install most of them.

Motorisation is available across all six. App, remote, Alexa, Google Home, your pick. We’ll run a demo when we come measure your windows.

How to Choose the Right Window Blind

  • Room type: bedrooms usually want heat and noise kept out, which is honeycomb’s job. Kitchens want something you can wipe down fast, and roller does that better than anything else here.
  • Sun direction: a west or south window takes a beating every afternoon. Honeycomb, or just a heavier fabric, holds up better than something sheer like zebra.
  • Privacy: ground floor, or a house close to the neighbours, roller or wooden gives more cover than a lighter fabric will.
  • Window size and type: sliding doors and big glass walls work better with vertical or motorised setups than a roman blind you’re raising by hand every day.
  • Manual vs motorised: motorised earns its cost on large or hard-to-reach windows, or if your home’s already wired for smart control.
  • Kids in the house: go cordless or motorised. No looped cord hanging around at all.
  • Cleaning: roller and vinyl barely need effort. Roman and wooden ask for more.

How Much Do Window Blinds Cost?

Manual blinds land somewhere between ₹150 and ₹520 per square foot, plus GST, depending mostly on the type and the fabric grade you go with. Want it motorised? Add ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 on top, depending on the brand and whether you go battery or plug-in. We deal and distribute Somfy, Dooya, Lutron, and RollerHouse directly. The number that actually matters, though, only comes once someone’s measured your windows, so that visit is free and there’s no catch to it. A handful of products on the live site are still showing ₹0.00, which is a catalogue bug we’re chasing down separately.

Installation & Service

Someone from our side comes to your home, measures every window, no charge for that, and walks you through fabric and mechanism options in person rather than over a phone screen. Installation itself goes through professional contractors, starting around ₹500, and what you actually pay shifts with window count, height, and manual versus motorised. Most jobs wrap in 7 to 10 working days from that first visit. We try to get back to any inquiry inside 30 minutes.

Warranty

Twelve months on manual mechanisms and on motors. Six months on fabric, cords, chains, anything you’d call a consumable part. Both cover manufacturing defects, timed from your invoice date. If something’s off, tell us in writing within 7 days, ideally with a photo or short video, and hang onto that invoice since it’s your proof of purchase. Once we’ve approved a claim, we repair or replace, our call on which, and there’s no freight or labour charge if it’s within the first 15 days.
